Bermagui is a peaceful town on the northern end of the Sapphire Coast. Bermagui is famous for its fishing and its safe all weather harbour dating from the 1830s. http://www.visitbermagui.com.au

The continental shelf is just 20km offshore being the closest point to the Australian mainland. This makes for amazing deep-sea fishing for fish such as Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin and King Fish.
The Bermagui River makes for great river fishing and hire tinnies are available from Bridge Motors right on the river.

Just north of Bermagui is Wallaga Lake which is part of the Gulaga National Park is one of the largest coastal lakes along the East Coast of Australia. Wallaga Lake is great for fishing, swimming, bushwalking around the lake and recreational boating such as Tubing, Skiing, wakeboarding and knee boarding.

The Flora and Fauna surrounding Wallaga Lake Bermagui boasts over 200 documented species of Birds identified around the lake. Wallaga Lake rests on the Eastern most side of the Gulaga National Park which extends west to Mount Gulaga (Mount Dromedary).

Things to do
Drive the Bermagui – Tathra Road
Discover one of the most spectacular drives on the south coast of NSW driving between Bermagui and Tathra. This drive takes you through National Parks, Farm Land, amazing coastal views, spectacular old bridges and inlets and past Wineries. Either way you drive this road (from North to South or South to North), its an amazing drive. A great circuit to take is drive down this road to Tathra, then drive into Bega visit the Cheese factory and make your way back to Bermagui via Cobargo.

Allow about 50 minutes for the drive from Wallaga Lake Holiday Park to Tathra. Allow more if you would like to stop and explore.

The 200 acre property lies in a coastal valley between pristine beaches and national parks, where They grow fine regional wines and serve beautiful, fresh and locally-sourced food. One of the best restaurants on the Sapphire Coast.

A range of wines can be tried at Mimosa, such as Sauvignon, Verdelho, Rose, Premium Blend, Tempranillo, and their Vintage Port.

Fishing
Great fishing is to be had by all. Wallaga Lake can be fished from the shore, or the Jetty within Wallaga Lake Holiday Park, or from a small boat or Canoe or Kayak which can be hired from Wallaga Lake Holiday Park.

Across the Wallaga Lake Road and short walk down to the beach allows for those that love a Beach fishing experience.

Game and Ocean Fishing is fantastic in Bermagui and for those wishing to launch into the ocean, Bermagui’s all weather Harbour is only about 6km from the park. Plenty of parking is available around the Bermagui boat ramp. Given the locality to the Ocean Shelf Bermagui is a fantastic place to launch from for Shelf fishing and Larger Game Fishing such as Tuna, and Marlin.
